So with webcam tuned and the mic working nicely I think it’s time to put myself out there in VR land.

*Stage fright*, it can wait!! Gotta shave!

Amazon and maybe EBay are selling mystery gifts for Xmas. A friend of mine was explaining that he paid £50 for a ‘black’ Xbox 3. You don’t know what you’re getting till you pay but here’s the thing, you get a cooling off period (1 day I think) and if you don’t want it you just tell them and you get a refund. He also wound up with a £300 mountain bike at half the price (not that he’ll keep it) but he’s thinking of selling them on. I’m looking for the catch! Is this too good to be true?

The things you come across

I just found out I have a celebrity neighbour. Does any one remember ‘Olive’ from On The Buses? Her real name is Anna Karen and she lives just up the road, she now teaches drama in a local school. She is now in her 70’s and found fame in that hit comedy sit-com but she has also been in a lot of Carry On films as well as bit parts in Star Trek etc.

But did you know she started her career as a striptease girl?!!

Here she is from On The Buses. It did make me laugh!!

What a week. Here’s the top three.

So we have a royal wedding to look forward to, and she’s a sweetie too.

What else .. oh yea we lost 2-1 to France in a friendly football match, how a game against France can be called ‘friendly’ is beyond me.

I don’t do TV (that line is so used by me) but anyway the girls at work are happy that ‘I’m a celebrity bla bla’ is back on our screens.

Roll on next week!

Vampire Fish

I wonder if this article is worth adding to VR's database.

A parasite that drinks blood. But then again don't most parasites do this.

This infomation comes courtesy of World Of Technology. How they even have a section for this is something else!

I thought it was an ad for a new Alien film. Anyway......

The parasite then replaces the fish’s tongue by attaching its own body to the muscles of the tongue stub

Cymothoa exigua is a parasitic crustacean of the family Cymothoidae. It tends to be 3 to 4 cm long. This parasite attaches itself at the base of the spotted rose snapper’s (Lutjanus guttatus) tongue, entering the fish’s mouth through its gills. It then proceeds to extract blood through the claws on its front three pairs of legs. As the parasite grows, less and less blood reaches the tongue, and eventually the organ atrophies from lack of blood.

The parasite then replaces the fish’s tongue by attaching its own body to the muscles of the tongue stub. The fish is able to use the parasite just like a normal tongue. It appears that the parasite does not cause any other damage to the host fish. Once C. exigua replaces the tongue, some feed on the host’s blood and many others feed on fish mucus. They do not eat scraps of the fish’s food. This is the only known case of a parasite functionally replacing a host organ.
